Like all my maps, I want to recognize the traditional territory of the Indigenous peoples we now live on. The Bow Valley is the land of the Tsuu T'ina, Stoney Nakoda, Blackfoot Confederacy, and later on, the Métis. I have visited and come to know these places by the names depicted, but would like to acknowledge these places had Indigenous names prior to the arrival of settlers. I wish to acknowledge this reality so as not to further the colonial erasure and to encourage learning and awareness.
