The summer I spent guiding on the Kananaskis River, I grew to love the fireweed flowers that adorn its banks. They are so named because they are the first to appear after fires and floods, and so since the 2013 flood, the banks of the rivers here are all blanketed in hues of pink and purple all summer. Yamnuska rises up as a rocky backdrop, always catching the morning light.
