Like all my maps, I want to recognize the traditional territory of the Indigenous peoples we now live on. The Icefields Parkway runs through lands under Treaties 6, 7,  & 8, and  is the land of the Rocky Mountain Cree, Blackfoot, Kootenia, Shushwap, Tsuu T'ina, Stoney Nakoda, and later on, the Métis. I have visited and come to know these places by the names depicted, but would like to acknowledge these places had Indigenous names prior to the arrival of settlers. I wish to acknowledge this reality so as not to further the colonial erasure and to encourage awareness and learning.
